We know that not everyone loves insects, but this one is truly magical. The cicada is a marvel of nature, emerging only once every 13 or 17 years after spending the majority of its life hidden underground. This unique cycle, tied to prime numbers, is nature's way of outsmarting predators.
By emerging at such irregular intervals, cicadas avoid becoming a predictable meal, surviving in a beautifully evolved dance between vulnerability and resilience.
In the mosaic, we capture this fleeting, almost mystical moment of emergence—a creature that spends most of its life in quiet patience, only to burst forth into the world in an explosion of sound and life.
The cicada reminds us of the beauty found in nature’s cycles, where even the longest periods of silence and waiting can give way to the creation of something vibrant, alive, and magical.
